shielding (s) angle

shielding (s) angle
Angle by which a leaflet is transversely inserted on the rachis, often, but not always, resulting in leaflet overlap (sensu Grobbelaar, 2002), e.g. if leaflets overlap incubously the s-angle is nominally positive, if leaflets overlap succubously the s-angle is nominally negative.
